WIMMIN'S INTUITION
A visceral knowing that slowly seeps to the surface of our consciousness, the truth of which is verified by our innermost psyche.
Bone truths, sanguis song, feminine knowing, women's intuition, wimmin's intuition is called many things.
Due the subtle nature of intuition, it is easy to overlook, dismiss, ignore or sweep away under the proverbial rug with the rest of the dust bunnies that many women have within.
Intuition often has no rational, technocratic information that women can use to explain or defend their position should they choose to heed their intuition.
This makes it extremely easy for others to override a woman's intuitive knowing by dismissing it out of hand. In addition, women are encouraged and conditioned to submit to our society's technocratic knowledge system. This system has massive social power and weight behind it and happens to be of a patriarchal nature.
Anthropologist Robbie E. Davis-Floyd has given valuable insight into knowledge systems. The dominant, accepted knowledge system of a society is defined as authoritative knowledge and people in that society validate, reinforce and reproduce this knowledge.
This authoritative knowledge gains dominance because it explains the state of the world better for the purposes at hand (efficacy) and because it is associated with a stronger power base (structural superiority).
The accepted order of things is seen as a fact of nature or how things are even if the accepted order was socially constructed and not actually natural. This makes it difficult or impossible to challenge this accepted order because Nature can't be changed.
Other equally legitimate and valid knowledge systems are then discredited and dismissed, and anyone who adopts "alternative" knowledge are seen as ignorant, uneducated, naive or troublemakers.
And there you have it. Our society discredits many feminine aspects, devalues women, conditions little girls to be 'good girls' even when they are women and no longer girl children.
Women are meant to submit to authority, especially in hospitals and institutions, and if we get emotional and question the way of things, we are labelled as troublemakers or difficult patients.
Our own inner knowing is powerful, and because it divulges information to us that pertains to us and is relevant to us, our bodies or our babies, it is dangerous to others who would seek to 'own' expert knowledge of what is happening to us.
Remember that. Powerful. You are powerful, and rightful control of your body and what you do, and what happens to you, belongs to you alone. Nobody else.
While I am at it, you might as well know that while fear is powerful, it is rendered useless once seen for what it is. The most valuable tools you can have in your fist is personal truth and the courage and conviction to hold onto it.
